REMAIN CURIOUS AND KEEP GROWING

I specialize in “emerging adults”. Young adults in their 20s and 30s who are experiencing challenges in finding their sense of identity and transitioning to adapting to the greater demands and responsibilities of adulthood.

Desiree Pearson, Ph.D.

YOUR FIRST STEP TO CHANGE

Dr. Pearson is a licensed clinical psychologist in Washington, D.C. providing individual and couples therapy to adults.

She was primarily trained in psychodynamic and relational approaches. Additionally, she also uses cognitive behavioral (CBT), mindfulness meditation and emotionally focused (EFT) couples therapy techniques depending upon the needs of individual clients and couples. Dr. Pearson’s areas of specialization include depression, anxiety, career concerns, life transitions, relationships issues, work/life balance, trauma, grief and LGBTQIA related issues. Remaining curious about what underlies the anxieties and stressors in your life is the first step to change. You and Dr. Pearson will work together to make that happen. She warmly welcomes your call or email.

What does a better life look like to you?

You may struggle to find the words, but right now something feels off and uncomfortable in your life or in your relationship. You move through life feeling inadequate, overwhelmed, alone or misunderstood. Worrying about the future is a familiar feeling. Feeling anxious or depressed as a result? Maybe you feel like things would get better as time passed, but they have not. It can be scary or intimidating to reach out to a therapist because yours is a personal experience where connection matters most. If you are curious about what underlies the struggles you are experiencing, psychotherapy may be right for you.

I thoroughly enjoy working with “emerging adults.” Those who may be struggling with becoming financially and professionally independent from their families. Those who are experiencing challenges in finding their sense of identity and transitioning to adapting to the greater demands and responsibilities of adulthood. I welcome the opportunity to work alongside you through this process of developing self agency and independence during this time of great developmental growth and change.
